Stress awareness month – Be the change

We live in a time where it’s easy to wait for someone else to step up, to fix things, to make the first move, to create change. We wait for systems to improve, for people to be kinder, for stress to simply disappear. And too often, we give up before we begin, telling ourselves: “How could one person like me possibly make a difference?”

Stress can affect anyone and everyone and its personal to them. It can affect you both physically and mentally. This month, April 2026, why not #Bethechange? Talking to someone, maybe a friend or family member, or even someone who works in the field of mental health could be the very first step you need to get help with your stress.

Likewise, if you know a friend or family member who is not coping, why not just take the time to talk to them, and listen. You could Be the change they need.

At St Luke’s we are very strong advocates for supporting mental health. Patients and residents have a team of nursing care professionals to help them when they may feel stressed or worried. The team are trained to look for the signs and get to know those in our care so we can Be the Change they many need.

Take the time for you and those you care for this month – Be the change – it could really make all the difference.
