“A happy mind is a healthy mind, and a healthy mind is good for the body.” ― Dalai Lama
We certainly believe this statement is the foundaiton for enjoying a good quality of life. St Luke's Hospital invests in not only the physical wellbeing of our patients and long-term residents but equally as importantly, their mind.
We have our own dedicated team who's sole objective is to help our patients engage their minds, as well as their bodies, in some cases.
The Activities Team works alongside our nursing and physiotherapy staff to support our patients by organising a very wide variety of daily activities. From live performances with professional musicians, talks from the local museums, visits from school classes, exercise groups, film nights, the gardening club and food tastings from around the world are just a few examples. We have a large art and craft room on the second floor which has all types of creative materials and resources.
The indirect benefit, of these activities is of course the social aspect. Creating or taking part in an activity together provides those very important social links for our patients - many of whom may have lived alone before coming to St Luke's. Engaging once again in social groups can transform a persons confidence and in turn boost their physical health.
And we have just the team to help support that to happen for our patients and residents.
