As we are getting ready to celebrate Christmas Day here at St Luke's Hospital, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year. Christmas is a time for friends and family to gather together, spending peaceful, joyful and fun times with our loved ones.
We have seen some wonderful improvements this year to ensure our patients have the facilities and comforts they need - no matter if they are a long-term resident or here to stay for rehabilitation or respite care.
This year, thanks to the generosity of our supporters (both individuals and trust funders), we have completely refurbished our physiotherapy gym, purchased a number of specialist pieces of equipment - some for the gym and some for patients to utilise through the Hospital during their stay. This work has only been possible thanks to the kindness and generosity of our donors - thank you so much for continuing to support St Luke's.
Sadly we also had to say goodbye to some members of our staff team through the year as they leave to take on new roles. Our thoughts also turn to the residents who are no longer with us too. We think of both staff and patients as family, so feel their loss.
The team at St Luke's working on Christmas Day and the festive period know how important this is for our patients who may not have family to share the day with. So we pull out all the stops to ensure everyone celebrating Christmas has a wonderful day at the Hospital. We have decked the halls, wrapped the presents and the food, oh the food will be amazing and plentiful.
There will be music and games, there will be crackers and terrible jokes. There will be Christmas hats and carols. There will be companionship, laughter and the opportunity to make some wonderful memories.
So enjoy your Christmas, wherever you may be this year.
Best wishes from us all at St Luke's Hospital this Christmas.
