As our lives continue, we often change our roles in a family - partner to mother or father and sometimes to carer. In the UK, it is very likely that in our later years, we become the carer for our partner or for another dependent living in the home.
The love and compassion that is given unconditionally in these roles can also be challenging, as the person being cared for may need more and more assistance as their condition deteriorates, or they become less independent or mobile.
Over time, this can be both mentally and physically exhausting for the carer, which in turn may alter the relationship between partners or family members, sometimes adding strain and tension.
St Luke's Hospital can help by providing much needed respite care breaks for the person who needs care and their family carers. A stay can be arranged from a few days to a few weeks, depending on your needs and wishes.
All parties can benefit from a break with professional support on offer for the person requiring care including physio and occupational therapy and a team of highly trained and experienced nursing staff.
We have an array of excellent facilties with 62 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and wetrooms, a dedicated physiotherpy and exercise gym, hairdressing salon, private gardens, actvities room, dining rooms and of course, our very own cafe. We even have a double occupancy room for couples to come and stay together.
